FERTILITY-ACUPUNCTURE
60 Mins

Those who have problems conceiving often turn to acupuncture. Not only is acupuncture valued for stress-relieving and relaxing benefits, but it is also a component of fertility treatments. Acupuncture can increase fertility by reducing stress, and increasing the amount of blood flow to reproductive organs, and balancing the endocrine system. This therapy is a great option for those women and men who want to safely increase their chance of conception.

While 40% of infertility is caused by problems in the female, another 40% is caused by problems in the male such as low sperm count or mobility. The remaining 20% is caused by unknown factors. One way acupuncture is used to treat infertility in both sexes is by reducing stress. When individuals are under stress, the hormone cortisol is released in the brain, altering the brain’s neurochemical balance and changing hormone levels, which in turn disrupt the pituitary balance (key to the reproductive cycle). Acupuncture can improve almost every cause of this obstacle.

Using acupuncture to crossover from infertile to fertile is essentially accomplished by helping your body function more efficiently, in turn allowing other more modern reproductive treatments like IVF, to also work more efficiently.

Acupuncture helps by addressing problems that affect fertility such an under-functioning thyroid (hypothyroidism) or over-functioning thyroid (hyperthyroidism).  Acupuncture provides individuals with the potential effect of improved ovarian and follicular function, along with improving blood flow to the endometrium which helps facilitate a thick, rich lining.

Any type of fertility disorder can be treated through acupuncture, some include:

  • Spasmed tubes

  • Follicle stimulating hormone (FSH)

  • Repeated pregnancy loss

  • Unexplained (idiopathic) infertility

  • Luteal phase defect

  • Hyperprolactinemia

  • Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS)

  • Men with affected sperm-DNA- fragmentation
